I love the book. I think it's even scarier than his other books. This is a true tragedy that really happened to 6 million Jewish people. It also affected the German people that fled during the start of the Hitler regime. My guardians parents and his aunt and uncle made it to America just in time. If you found out that someone was a part of the horrific Nazi party would you turn them in? What would it be like for a teenager who found out? Would you do things like he did or not? Remember, this young boy wanted to be a History major. I think these are the real questions of this book. What choices would you have made and did it have to change the character of Todd or were those underlying thoughts already buried in him?
Lately I have been just picking SK books I have not read, without knowing anything about them. So much fun. Never saw this story coming. The directions Mr King take the reader is wonderful. So enjoyable to be surprised all the way thru. Thank you, Stephen
I loved the story. It held my interest and kept me in suspense about how it would all turn out.
Stephen King's early books were much better then his later ones. The novel 'Apt Pupil' has many horrible scenes that I did not read through word-for-word, simply because it was unnecessary for the novel's story line. It was, instead, like throwing in of bloody and obligatory gore for no apparent reason. Mr. King seems to be resting on his fame and not putting into his tales all the talent he possesses.
This novela is a very powerfull novela about obsession. It shows you what can happen to someone who gets to involved with trying to make a german remember the terrible crimes he commited in the concentration camps. The audiobook is read byFrank Muller. The way he reads this novel, really places the listener into the book. Once I started the novela, I could not stop it.
Stephen King is terrific. Buzzed through this book too quickly. I wished it had more.
Felt like I had read some of it before. Wasted ending. Steve ... don’t phone it in.
